With the opening of Westlink M7 as the alternate link between the Pacific and Hume Highways, Metroad 7 was truncated at Beecroft. Furthermore, the new motorway allowed Metroad 2 traffic to bypass the section of Old Windsor Road between Abbott and Seven Hills Roads.
The opening of the Bangor Bypass meant that Metroad 6 was was rerouted onto New Illawarra Road.
